Since 2006, we have been working hard to make St. Catharines better. Now the real work begins.
There will be challenges ahead and we will need real local solutions – not just platitudes – to keep your city moving forward.
For the first time in a generation, St. Catharines is getting its fair share. Since I was first elected, the federal government has responded by investing more than $372 million in our city.
Now we must build on those investments. Working together, we can make a better St. Catharines that the next generation will call home.

GM and the Niagara auto parts industry will grow because of a 10 year, $1 billion extension of the Automotive Supplier Innovation Program leading to unprecedented global trade opportunities, new incentives for investment, modern infrastructure and low taxes.
“Our Conservative government has a plan for long-term growth in the auto sector and our manufacturing industry,” Prime Minister Harper said. “Our low-tax plan is creating economic growth, even in the face of global economic instability.”
Dramatically reducing payroll taxes by 20% by 2017 will help the 7,000 businesses in St. Catharines expand, create more jobs and mean more take-home pay for their employees.
“By dramatically reducing payroll taxes, Canadian workers will see their take-home pay increase and businesses – especially small businesses – will be able to create new jobs and invest in their current employees,” the Honourable Joe Oliver said. “Our Conservative government has a proven record of reducing taxes on hardworking Canadians and job-creating businesses, and we have a plan to go further.”
